In 1865 John Hardy purchased the land on which this one of a kind home was built. Designed by well known architect Jacob Snyder, it has been coined as Ohio's "Italianate Jewel." Construction started in the winter of 1869 and was completed in 1874. All the bricks were fired on site and the timber for the mansion was sourced from the property. This unique home has had many uses over the years and many different owners. The manor has been a restaurant, bar,  children's receiving home and an antique store  among other things.
